AJT DESIGN & MARKETING MIGRATES ENTIRE CLIENT BASE TO NEW WEB HOSTING NETWORK OPERATIONS CENTER WITHOUT DOWNTIME.
Orlando, FL … AJT Design & Marketing has been purchasing new equipment and planning a complete migration to a new network operations center (NOC) for almost a year. The good planning paid off when 100% of AJT's client base were brought online at the new NOC. "We are very proud of our entire team, as well as our migration partner, Reliable Penguin, for being able to execute the entire move while maintaining service to our Clients", said James Lawrence, Customer Service Manager.
Recently there have been several large web hosting firms that executed migrations and it turned into a day or two, and in one extreme case, almost a week of service outage for their Clients across the board. Read more on the Navisite/Alabanza Migration Mess.
"We learned from other recent migrations, that planning is key", states Mr. Lawrence, "Clients are usually very forgiving so long the service is restored quickly. In the case of Navisite/Alabanza, they had over 80% of their customers without websites or email for over 70 hours and we wanted to do everything in our power to ensure downtime was kept to a minimum."
The final migration/cut-over was on October 30, 2007. There was no downtime at all. While some bugs did surface, mostly from the operating system upgrade, our dedicated team worked directly with each Client and had everything at 100% the very next day.
In addition to moving our network to one of the most secure NOC's in the country, the entire AJT web hosting network also went thru extensive equipment/server upgrades. All servers have a minimum of two processors and a RAID5 hard disk array to prevent downtime incase of hard disk failure. The operating system & web hosting control panel was also upgraded and changed to Plesk 8.21. Clients now enjoy faster servers on connections offering more redundancy and a great interface to manage their website and email settings.
